Information for Student Participants
If you plan to participate in the URS, please read the URS Presenter Handbook carefully. This guide contains everything you need to know to successfully participate in the URS including:
- Undergraduate Research Symposium & Showcase Overview
- Abstract Submission & Event Registration
- Presentation & Poster Preparation
- Event Participation Guidelines
Abstract submissions representing both on-going and completed research projects are welcome. The deadline to submit an abstract for the Spring Undergraduate Research Symposium is in March.
Before submitting your abstract, please be sure to know the following:
- Any funding sources involved in your research project. It is essential that the names of all sponsors are spelled correctly and consistently.
- The departmental affiliation, email address, and phone number of your primary research advisor and any additional advisors involved in the research project.
Note: Your abstract must be approved by your primary research advisor prior to submission.
Special Area Competitions
In addition to showcasing research in the symposium, students also have the option to enter their projects into Special Area Competitions hosted by various departments and colleges across campus. Read more about the Spring 2023 Special Area Competitions here!
Presenters who wish to be considered to compete in a Special Area Competition should designate that in their abstract submission form. After the abstract submission deadline, students selected for competitions will be notified of the separate rules and procedures by the hosting department or college. Please note: Judging for all Special Area Competitions will take place during the main symposium event, EXCEPT for the 3Minute Research Pitch competition, which has a separately scheduled timeslot.
